Program Director: Zack Greer
Zack was born and raised in Whitby, Ontario, a hotbed for Box Lacrosse in Canada. Following in the footsteps of his older siblings, he first suited up on the lacrosse floor at age 3. He spent many summers with the Whitby Warriors and the Oshawa Blue Knights, while playing hockey for the Whitby Wildcats each winter.
Zack went on to play junior lacrosse for the Whitby Warriors and was awarded the "Joey Nieuwendyk Award" for Rookie of the Year in 2002. He was also awarded the "Dean McLeod Award" for Playoffs M.V.P in 2004. Zack was drafted to the Oshawa Generals of the OHL in 2002 and spent two seasons with the Oshawa Legionnaires before heading to Duke University.
In 4 seasons at Duke, Zack was named an All-American three times, including twice on the first team. He finished as the all-time Duke and NCAA leader in career goals scored and was awarded the Jack Turnbull Award given to the USILA Attackman of the year following his 2008 season. Zack was also nominated as a finalist for the Tewaaraton Award in both 2008 and 2009, an award given to the most outstanding college lacrosse player in the nation. After graduating from Duke, Zack used his fifth year of eligibility to pursue his MBA at Bryant University in the fall of 2008 where he played under former Duke head coach, Mike Pressler.
Zack began his professional career in box and field lacrosse in 2009 after being drafted 3rd overall in both the National Lacrosse League and Major League Lacrosse drafts. He spent time with the Long Island Lizards, the Denver Outlaws and the Dallas Rattlers of the MLL, winning the championship with Denver in 2014. During his 15 seasons in the NLL, Zack finished his career with over 650 points and two championships, winning back to back with Edmonton and Saskatchewan in 2015 and 2016. He also played one season in the MSL for the Brampton Excelsiors, winning the Mann Cup alongside his brother Bill in 2011.
On the international stage, Zack won a silver medal with Team Canada and was named to the All-World team at the U-19 World Field Lacrosse Championships in 2003. He was first selected to the Senior Men’s National Field Lacrosse Team in 2010, followed by another selection in 2014 where he helped lead Canada to a gold medal victory over the United States. Finally, he won a gold medal with Canada’s Senior Men’s Box Lacrosse Team in 2015 at the World Indoor Lacrosse Championships.
In addition to his efforts on the field of play, Zack enjoys coaching athletes of all ages, including his own children. He currently lives in Prosper, Texas with this wife Kristine and children Harlynn, Kinsley and Bauer.
